The 100o+ heat didn’t stop Bryan Hoops from firing a final round of 68 (-3) to capture the trophy and title of 2018 Arizona Mid-Amateur Championship. Hoops is no stranger to the Kachina doll trophy, as it was his third Arizona Mid-Amateur victory, also winning in 2005 and 2016. Hoops was the only player in the field to score under par all three rounds, including scores of 68- 69- 68, for a total of 205.
Troon North Golf Club’s award-winning Pinnacle Course is undergoing a four-month course enhancement project. The course closed on June 5, 2018 and is expected to reopen in October. The Monument course, which underwent a similar improvement project last summer, will remain open for daily-fee play this summer.

The United States Golf Association (USGA) today announced that 23 additional golfers, including U.S. Amateur champions Matthew Fitzpatrick, Bryson DeChambeau and Peter Uihlein, have earned full exemptions into the 2018 U.S. Open Championship, to be played June 14-17 at Shinnecock Hills Golf Club in Southampton, N.Y. These exemptions bring the number of fully exempt players to 77.
USGA Accepts More Than 2,700 Entries for 39th U.S. Senior Open Championship
The United States Golf Association (USGA) today announced that it has accepted 2,738 entries for the 39th U.S. Senior Open Championship, scheduled for June 28-July 1, 2018 at The Broadmoor (East Course) in Colorado Springs, Colo. Eleven past champions are among the 75 players who are currently fully exempt into the championship.
This year, in collaboration with its Allied Golf Association network, the USGA will host and invite local communities to participate in dedicated regional PLAY9 days each month, beginning on May 9. Golfers can find a golf course in their community that offers a nine-hole rate at usga.org/play9. The course finder identifies nine-hole facilities as well as 18-hole golf courses that offer a nine-hole rate.

The 2nd annual AGA Championship was hosted by Randolph Golf Complex– North Course, April 6-8, 2018 and is the first of five AGA Major Championships of the 2018 AGA TOUR Season powered by True Spec Golf. Brown outlasted 36-hole leader Nick Hedman (68-71-73) and Chad Wilcox (71-71-70) in two playoff holes, sticking his approach close and sinking the clinching, birdie putt, on the second go-round.

The Ak-Chin Indian Community has partnered with the World Long Drive Association (WLDA) to host the “Ak-Chin Smash in the Sun” on Monday and Tuesday, May 14 and 15, 2018. A portion of the officially sanctioned WLDA event will be televised in primetime on Golf Channel on Tuesday, May 15th. The Ak-Chin Smash in the Sun will take place adjacent to Harrah’s Ak-Chin Casino on a natural grass golf range (with stadium seating) being constructed for the event.
