McGilton Clinches 2018 Falcon Amateur Win

WADDELL, ARIZONA- New Mexico State rising senior, Mike McGilton, holes out at the 2018 Arizona Amateur at Falcon Dunes Golf Club to clinch the win.

It was McGilton’s impressive 36 holes, posting two under-par rounds including (64-68), that secured him the title by one shot. McGilton birdied 9 holes highlighted by an eagle on the par-4 13th to open the tournament on Friday.

University of Arkansas standout, Aaron Ramos, was the only player to deliver a superb, bogey-free performance and finished second. The rising senior closed with a 9-under 71 for a total of 133.

Univeristy of Wyoming rising senior, Daniel Starzinski, finished 3 shots behind the lead at 7-under. Sean O’Donnell and Adam Walicki shared fourth at 6-under.

This tournament also marked the second of four qualifiers to compete in the 94th Arizona Amateur Championship, where Arizona’s top Amateurs will compete for the title. Of the 41 players that competed in the qualifier, 17 players secured a spot. The top 15 scores made the cut, which fell at 6-over par (148). The 2018 Arizona Amateur Championship will take place at Tonto Verde Golf Club in Rio Verde, Arizona from July 30 thru August 4.
