Performance clinic January 12

Golftec will host a performance clinic focusing on swing flaws and fitness fixes Thursday, January 12 from 5-6:30 p.m. at their north Scottsdale location, 15452 N. Pima Road inside Golfsmith. Itty Bitty Open to be held Jan. 21

The Junior Golf Association of Arizona with the sponsorship of The Thunderbirds in conjunction with the Parks and Recreation Department’s of the City of Phoenix, Glendale, Mesa, Peoria, Scottsdale, Tempe, Surprise and Goodyear at one of their locations will stage the Itty Bitty Open on Saturday, January 21. Tucson golf swap to benefit girls golf

The LPGA-USGA Girls Golf Club of Tucson will be hosting a Golf Swap December 10. What is a golf swap? Golfers can come to swap or buy used or new golf items offered by individual sellers/pro shops/retail golf stores. There is no fee to the individual sellers for a space but there will be a $20 fee for the pro shops and the retail golf stores.

Antelope Hills CG and Habitat for Humanity give back to community

When Habitat for Humanity’s ReStore operations manager Patrick Holt heard this past week that Antelope Hills Golf Course was providing free golf equipment and golf for local Special Olympic participants, he knew immediately what to do with some surplus golf equipment at his store.

He donated more than 15 sets of golf clubs and golf bags to Mack McCarley, general manager at Antelope Hills.

Dave Anderson wins Silverbell GC Club Net Championship

Dave Anderson was named the Silverbell Golf Club's 2011 Net Champion after shooting a net 60 on Nov. 12 to end with an aggregate net 125. Dave's achievement secured his 1st place trophy and a spot on the Club Net Championship plaque.

On the final day of the tournament, the forecast was for a chance of rain and high winds. The weather turned out grand for final rounds day of play with no wind nor rain, making ideal conditions for low scoring.

Raffle to benefit The First Tee scholarship fund

The First Tee of Phoenix is selling raffle tickets to raise money for its Cloud 9 Scholarship. Raffle tickets are $5 each or three for $10. USGA announces 2012 executive committee nominations

The USGA Nominating Committee today announced the nomination of Glen D. Nager, of Washington, D.C., to serve a one-year term as president of the United States Golf Association (USGA). The election of officers and the 15-member USGA Executive Committee will take place Feb. 4, 2012, at the USGA’s Annual Meeting in Houston.

JGAA names annual award winners

The JGAA Awards Party was held on Saturday, October 15 at ASU Karsten Golf Course. The Player of the Year winners for each age division, along with Sportsmanship, Volunteer of the Year, Most Improved and Hole-in-one recipients were recognized. A new tradition was started, with the unveiling of the Thomas Cunningham Perpetual Player of the Year Trophy. This award will recognize the past, present and future JGAA Player of the Year winners. Thanks to the Gresco family for generously donating the trophy.

Prescott member raises $35,000 for VAC

Bill Ware, a member at Hassayampa Golf Club in Prescott, decided he wanted to give back to the men and women who serve our country. Nine rounds, 162 holes and 15 hours later, the 74-year-old had raised $35,000 for the Veterans Airlift Command, an organization that provides free air transportation to wounded veterans and their families for medical and other compassionate purposes.
