2017 Senior Match Play Championship

The 2017 Senior Match Play Championship will be held at Trilogy Golf Club at Power Ranch. The par-71 Trilogy Golf Club at Power Ranch located in the southeast Phoenix Valley was designed by golf course architect Dick Bailey and stretches over 6,900 yards.

2017 Senior Match Play Championship  

HOST SITE: Trilogy Golf Club at Power Ranch: 4415 East Village Pkwy. Gilbert, AZ 85298

DATES: August 23 – 26, 2017 (Wednesday – Saturday)

GOLF CART USE: Players may walk but are permitted to ride in carts and cart fees are covered in the tournament entry fee. Carts will be staged near the practice facilities each morning of the competition. Opponents will share a cart. Click here for AGA's complete golf cart policy.

CADDIES: Caddies are permitted for the Championship. They must walk at all times unless there is an available seat in one of the players carts. Caddies riding in a cart MUST NOT displace a player.


In addition, the following policies will be enforced:

  1. Spectator carts are not permitted for insurance reasons, NO EXCEPTIONS.
  2. Pull carts are permitted as long as not in conflict with the Host Club rules.

ELIGIBILITY: Open to Divisional Players ONLY: Masters: age 45-54; Senior: age 55-64; Legends: 65+

Participants must hold an active membership with an AGA Member Club.

PRACTICE ROUNDS: Practice rounds will be available starting on July 31st at a rate of $29 for Monday through Friday and $39 for Saturday and Sunday. There will also be a $20 rate everyday after 12 p.m. Players will be able to book tee times up to 7 days in advance. There will be some days  and times during those weeks where there will be specials online, so players are encouraged to look there as well.

FORMAT: Singles Match Play at gross. Divisional field sizes will be limited to MASTERS – 24 / SENIOR – 40 / LEGENDS – 24. Divisional fields will be set on a first-come, first-served basis. After the field is set, seeding will be determined by Players Cup Points ranking as of August 7, 2017.  

Each player will begin with a match (no stroke play qualifying) and each player is guaranteed at least two matches. Players who win their first match will continue on in the “Championship Bracket”, while those who lose their first match will continue play in the “Consolation Bracket”.

CHAMPIONSHIP BRACKET: Players Cup Points will be distributed to top finishers in each Division and specific earnings can be found HERE Merchandise payouts will be awarded based on final tournament budget.

CONSOLATION BRACKET: Players Cup Points will be distributed to top finishers in each Division as follows:

                Consolation Champion – 200 points ($100 merchandise)

                Runner-Up – 150 points ($50 merchandise)

                Semi-Finalist – 100 points                                                                           

TOURNAMENT TEE TIMES: Singles Matches will be sent out in 8-minute intervals off the No. 1 tee.

Wednesday, August 23

6:30 – 10:38 a.m., 11:44 a.m. – 1:44 p.m.                                   

*All Senior Division players will play their first match Day 1. Senior Division Consolation Bracket matches will take place Wednesday afternoon (some seniors will play two matches Day 1)
*Masters and Legends players ranked 9-24 will play their first match Day 1. Those ranked 1-8 will not play Day 1.

Thursday, August 24

6:30 – 10:38 a.m., 11:44 a.m. – 1:44 p.m.                                   

*Masters and Legends players ranked 1-8 will play their first matches, as well as rd. 1 of the Consolation Bracket (afternoon).
*Senior Division Bracket will continue with Round of 16 Championship Bracket and Consolation Brackets.

Friday, August 25

6:30 a.m.                                              

*Masters and Legends Divisions will play Round of 8 matches in the Championship and Consolation Brackets.
*Senior Division will play Round of 8 matches in the Championship and Consolation Brackets.

Saturday, August 26                          

6:30 a.m.

*Semi-finals and finals matches in all brackets

                4 p.m.                                                     Awards Ceremony

PAIRINGS: Official tournament pairings will be available by end of day on Friday, August 18. Pairings will be posted on the tournament website and players will receive an email once pairings are available.

DRIVING RANGE: Practice balls will be available on the range prior to play starting at 5:15 a.m. Wednesday – Saturday. NOTE: the driving range will be closed at 3 p.m. on Thursday, August 24.

PAYOUTS: Payouts in the form of merchandise gift cards will be given to top finishers. Specific payout amounts will be posted prior to final-round scoring.

GOLF CART USE: Players may walk or ride.

In addition, the following policies will be enforced:

  1. Spectator carts are not permitted for insurance reasons, NO EXCEPTIONS.
  2. Carts are assigned only to contestants. A caddie may use a cart only if a contestant is not displaced by such use.
  3. Restrictions on cart use for players are at the discretion of the Host Site, and all players are bound by those requirements, subject to withdrawal for violations of that policy. Any such restrictions will be posted at the tournament site.
  4. Two persons per cart only.
  5. Carts must be kept on paths if available near greens and tees.
  6. Any non-player riding with a player is considered a caddie and subject to any potential rules violations.
  7. Pull carts are permitted as long as not in conflict with the Host Club rules.

WITHDRAW POLICY: Prior to the Entry Deadline, players may withdraw from a tournament and receive a full refund by completing the withdraw process on the tournament website, calling the AGA office (602) 944-3035 during normal business hours or calling the Withdraw Line at (602) 944-3035 ext. 210 and leaving a message.

After the Entry Deadline has passed, any withdraw will be considered a “late withdraw”. Tournament entry fees will only be returned if the player’s position in the field is filled by an alternate. In any case, a $30 administrative fee will be deducted from any tournament entry fee refund, regardless of the reason for withdrawing.
