97th Arizona Amateur Field Preview

The 97th Arizona Amateur Championship presented by PXG is set to be contested August 9-14 at Grayhawk Golf Club’s Talon Course in Scottsdale, Ariz. for the first time since 1995. The field features 156 of Arizona’s most elite amateur golfers, including defending champion Jake Chanen along with three additional past champions.

Contested over six days, Monday’s play will begin with a two-day, 36-hole stroke play qualifying, where the field will be cut to the low 64 players. Beginning Wednesday, the 64-player field moves to the match play portion, where the winner of the coveted Kachina will survive 6 matches.  Thursday and Friday are double-round days to reduce the field to the two finalists on Saturday morning. Awaiting the coveted The winner of six match play victories earns the coveted Kachina.
