Bryan Hoops Captures 2018 Arizona Mid-Amateur Championship

MARICOPA, ARIZONA – Eighty-six players braved the Arizona almost-summer heat to compete in the 2018 Arizona Mid-Amateur Championship this past weekend at Ak-Chin Southern Dunes Golf Club.
The 100o+ heat didn’t stop Bryan Hoops from firing a final round of 68 (-3) to capture the trophy and title of 2018 Arizona Mid-Amateur Championship. Hoops is no stranger to the Kachina doll trophy, as it was his third Arizona Mid-Amateur victory, also winning in 2005 and 2016.  Hoops was the only player in the field to score under par all three rounds, including scores of 68- 69- 68, for a total of 205.
Washington State Golf alumni, Jarrett Foote, made a charge on Sunday with a final round 5-under, 66. His impressive playing landed him in second place with a 3-day total of 208.
Other notable golfers included Zachary Frazier, Travis Kalis, and Sean O’Donnell who all tied for third with a final score of 4-under, 209 total.
Brian Blanchard’s final Sunday score of 6-under, 65, was the lowest round of the tournament. It did not land him in the top spot for the tournament, but was impressive none the less.
Our thanks to the entire team at Ak-Chin Southern Dunes golf club for an amazing three days.
