Estevez Wins 2017 Falcon Amateur

Colton Estevez, an incoming-senior on Grand Canyon University’s men’s golf team, won the 2017 Falcon Amateur Friday after posting a two-day total 136 (70, 66) at Falcon Dunes Golf Club, located just north of Luke Air Force Base.
Estevez had seven birdies in the second round, including a clutch birdie on the 17th hole to stay one-up on Mike McGilton.
“Coming down the stretch I was up one on Mike and I knew he was going to make birdies coming down on 18 or 17,” Estevez explained. “He made birdie on 17 to tie me and I made one on top of him to go one-up so that was a good hole for me.”
McGilton finished the tournament one-back (69, 68; 137) to tie for second along with Michael Salazar (73, 64; 137) and Tyler Kertson (69, 68; 137).

Estevez will play in the 93rd Arizona Amateur Championship, July 31 through August 5 at Moon Valley Country Club in Phoenix.
The Falcon Amateur is an annual tournament hosted by the Arizona Golf Association as part of the AGA Tour series.
