Milleman Wins 2017 AZ Mid-Am Championship

26-year-old Travis Milleman won the 2017 Arizona Mid-Amateur Championship Sunday, after posting a three-day total 204 (66, 66, 72) at Seville Golf and Country Club in Gilbert.
Milleman totaled 16 birdies in the tournament, including seven on the second day to head into the final round tied with Michael Martin at 12-under.
“[I] just treated it like we ere tied at zero, even par,” Milleman said. “Not really thinking about what he was doing, more focused on golfing the way I want to golf.”
Martin finished the tournament in second at two strokes back (206; 68, 64, 74).
Despite the win, Milleman says he still has some work to do before the U.S. Amateur qualifier: “I’ve changed a lot of my technique in the last six months or so and it’s still a constant grind. Showing up to this tournament I wasn’t quite sure how it was going to actually work out as far as hitting the ball so definitely some more stuff to focus on there. And I was a little shaky down the stretch with my putting so definitely some things to shore up.”

The Arizona Mid-Amateur Championship is an annual golf tournament hosted by the Arizona Golf Association for post-college amateur golfers aged 25 and over.
