Lithia Pacific Amateur Golf Classic

PacAm Gears Up for 20th Year54-Hole Tourney Showcases Central Oregon Golf Trail
There’s something about a competitive round of golf that gets the heart beating a little faster standing over that first tee shot of the day. Whether it’s the club championship at your home course, the weekly league match or a skins game with your buddies from college – golf is more fun when there’s something on the line.
It’s also more fun when there’s free beer, great food, tons of laughs and a lifetime of memories waiting for you after the round.
For 20 years, the Lithia Pacific Amateur Golf Classic in Central Oregon has been the epitome of fun, competitive golf in the West. The PacAm is a three-day, 54-hole net, stroke-play tournament hosted by Sunriver Resort and held on eight Central Oregon golf courses.
Old favorites were added back to the mix last year and expect to return in 2016, setting up a tournament with a true Central Oregon flair. Players this year will tee it up at Widgi Creek and Lost Tracks in Bend,Aspen Lakes in Sisters, Black Butte Ranch’s Big Meadow Course and Sunriver Resort’s Meadows and Woodlands Courses. The top four players in each flight qualify to play in the winner-take-all Championship Round at the famed Crosswater Club at Sunriver.
“We’re excited to have this group of courses involved in the PacAm again,” said Tournament Director Mike Patron. “More importantly, the players are excited to play these courses. They’re some of best golf courses in Central Oregon.”

More than 400 players are expected in the tournament, coming from virtually every state in the U.S. The tourney has even attracted players from Europe the last few years. With the tournament volunteers, sponsors and players’ spouses and families, the tournament attracts more than 1,000 people to the region for the week.
The tournament begins on September 17th with registration and the Taylor Made demo day out on the Meadows Course driving range. The fun continues through the 22nd with golf and nightly 19th Hole events and a fun Festival of Golf skills competition benefitting a local charity.

CALLOUT 1: Major accolades continue to pour in this year for Central Oregon golf courses. Golfweek’s “Best-in-State” Oregon Top 10 list included 5 local tracks: Tetherow, Pronghorn Nicklaus Course, Aspen Lakes, Black Butte Ranch Big Meadow and Crosswater Club. Additionally, Golf Digest this spring named Sunriver Resort and its 63 holes a Top 10 Family Golf Destination while Golf Magazine ranked Pronghorn among its 25 Best Golf Communities in the U.S.
This lofty rankings come on the heels of Golf Digest in 2015 ranking Pronghorn, Tetherow and Crosswater among its 100 Greatest Public Courses.
CALLOUT 2: Visitors to Central Oregon’s premier golf resorts will notice some recent major upgrades and construction projects to bolster an already impressive array of amenities. In 2015 Sunriver Resort unveiled a new swimming facility called The Cove in addition to three new restaurants: Carson’s American Kitchen, Twisted River Tavern and the Living Room. The projects are part of a 5-year, $50 million overhaul at the resort.
At Tetherow Resort, work is well underway on a new pool, fitness center, event pavilion and vacation home neighborhood called The Cairn. The facilities should be available for guests this summer. Meanwhile at Pronghorn Resort, construction continues on a new, 105-room luxury lodge that should be ready by 2017.
