Matt Dorchinecz & Zachary Backer Win Four-Ball Championship

During the weekend of May 14th and 15th, Sewailo Golf Course in Tucson hosted the 2016 Arizona Four-Ball Championship. Bryan Hoops and Jeremy Defalco were the 2015 Champions. This year’s competition hosted 26 different teams across four flighted divisions separated by age. The competition consisted of 36 holes of four ball team play starting with a 1:00PM Saturday afternoon shotgun and commencing with a morning shotgun Sunday at 7 o’clock. Blustery conditions awaited the players but three teams battled the elements to break 70 the first day including Paige Peterson and Rob McIver(66), David Rasley and Roger Brown(67) and Matt Dorchinecz and Zachary Baker(69). While players hoped the breeze would subside for the round the following morning, they were disappointed to see gusty winds return by 8AM making for arguably more difficult conditions than the day before. While contending teams battled to better themselves from the preceding round only one was able to reach that goal. The team of Dorchinecz and Baker rounded the course with the day’s best score of 67 for a two-day total of 136, besting Peterson and McIver by one stroke to claim the overall title. Thank you to the teams who participated and we hope to see everyone next year.
