Dove Valley Ranch Gets a Facelift

Robert Trent Jones II Signature Golf Course at Dove Valley Ranch Re-Opened August 1st
PHOENIX, AZ August 1, 2015 — The Golf Club at Dove Valley Ranch is reopening after a complete restoration guided by new operator DVR Management, LLC.
Dove Valley Ranch’s restoration and grow-in continued through June and July with the greens resurfacing project recently completed. As the greens were taking shape, the new owner completed several other enhancements to the golf course allowing Dove Valley Ranch to emerge from the summer with a much improved offering to the Membership and the general public.
“After gaining an understanding of the Bermuda grass varieties, and understanding the North Phoenix climate, MiniVerde Ultra Dwarf Bermudagrass was the obvious choice as the new surface for the greens. This grass has some real advantages as MiniVerde has a deep root system that stands up very well in our dry conditions, and has a fast grow-in. MiniVerde also continues to stay green and grow in the cool temperatures of our winter. It’s a great grass for a faster and more consistent putting surface,” said Ryan Thompson, General Manager of DVR Management, adding “that the greens have come in ahead of schedule, and are smooth, receptive, fast, and ready for play.”
“It’s a treat to now play Dove Valley. I can now start wearing my Dove Valley golf shirts in public” said DVR longtime member Tom Ditonto. “The new staff has done all the little things, cleared the brush areas, cleaned up all the tee boxes, which are spectacular, the fairways are the best I‘ve seen in years, it’s fantastic”, said Ditonto.
Opened in 1998 and designed by Robert Trent Jones II, Dove Valley Ranch continues to be Arizona’s best kept secret. The layout is very playable, but strategic enough to test the course-management skills of every player. According to Jones, the key was to not “overcook” the gentle nature of this golf course, which makes Dove Valley a kinder, gentler creation from a designer usually known for his more heroic strategies.
The restoration includes two new practice greens, resurfaced tee boxes, new fleet of golf carts, a soon to be remodeled restaurant, and a variety of aesthetic improvements throughout the property and overall improved playability.
Thompson and his team have led the restoration and continue to make enhancements with their mission as a driving force: Offer an exceptional golf experience through superior playing surfaces and first-class customer service.
“The revitalization of The Golf Club at Dove Valley Ranch is a significant step to re-engaging with residents of the Dove Valley Ranch community and the entire Arizona golf market,” said Thompson. “We are committed to providing exemplary service, great playing surfaces, impeccable amenities and support for the community’s property values.”
“We are absolutely ecstatic at the support of the community and expect new and returning golfers will once again fall in love with Dove Valley Ranch,” said Shawn Lasher, Director of Golf. “This is one of the most beautiful golf communities in Arizona and our goal is to restore it to the vision and excellence that its founders created decades ago. When you consider the location, the vibrancy of the community and its legacy of high standards; it truly is a very special place,” said Lasher.
