Golf Loses Dear Friends
Greg Nash – Arizona Based Golf Coures Architect
Greg Nash, an American Society of Golf Course Architects member, died Aug. 21, 2015 after a brief stay in hospice care. He was 66. ASGCA members will remember Nash’s relentless attention to detail, an intimate understanding of the development process, and a knowledge of environmental regulations, which helped mold him into a respected, successful architect.
A native of Hays, Kan., and resident of Anthem, Ariz., Nash received a degree in landscape architecture from the University of Arizona. He built his own firm, Greg Nash Design, on the foundation of creating beautiful, playable golf courses that provide fun, fair challenges to players of all abilities while blending seamlessly with their natural surroundings. After completion of a golf course, Greg Nash Design continued to work with its clients as consultants, helping them set up cost–effective and environmentally sensitive maintenance programs. These programs included the use of sophisticated irrigation systems, climatically suitable turfgrasses, ground covers, and trees.
Notable designs from Nash included: Anthem Country Club, Anthem, Ariz.; Club Terravita, Scottsdale, Ariz.; Sun City Palm Springs Golf Course, Palm Springs, Calif.; and Sun City Summerlin Golf Course, Las Vegas.
Nash is survived by his wife, Cynthia; children, Shawn and Rachelle, and two grandchildren. Donations are being accepted in Nash’s name to Hospice of the Valley, Phoenix
