AWGA Build A Team

Four Phoenix Valley high school girls’ golf teams and four Southern Arizona high school girls’ golf teams were ‘adopted’ in the fall of 2012 by the Arizona Women’s Golf Association to initiate the “Build-a-TEAM” Project. When interviewed in 2012, Raymond Kellis HS, golf Coach, Brooke White, told us “My girls deserve a chance” and the A.W.G.A. agreed with her.

Raymond Kellis HS, Peoria HS, Williams Field HS and Chandler HS girls’ golf teams were the first beneficiaries of “Build-a-TEAM” in the Phoenix area. In the Tucson area the four teams are Marana HS, Mountain View HS, Walden Grove HS, and Desert View HS. This is a project that the AWGA plans to take state-wide in the coming years.
It is the goal of the A.W.G.A. to prepare these high school golfers to compete at the highest level and to position them to apply for the many college golf scholarships that currently go untouched. Professional instruction by LPGA and PGA teachers will be provided to each team. Additional needs for practice facilities, equipment and uniforms will be assessed and provided.
To raise funds for the “Build a TEAM” program, the AWGA is holding a drawing to raffle off a brand new 2013 Yahama golf cart, valued at $7,918. All the proceeds go to “Build a TEAM”. Tickets are 1 for $5 or 3 for $10.  The drawing will be held October 31, 2013.
