Star Pass hosts charity golf tournament

Tucson, AZ – JW Marriott Starr Pass Resort & Spa is once again inviting golfers to take a swing at raising funds for Southern Arizona charities. The luxury resort is hosting the 15th Annual Southern Arizona Marriott Charity Golf Invitational & Gala on Friday, November 18 and Saturday, November 19 on Starr Pass’ award-winning Arnold Palmer desert mountain golf course. This year’s tournament will benefit the TMC Foundation/Children’s Miracle Network, the Autism Society of Greater Tucson, and the Tucson Conquistadores. Established in 1997, the Southern Arizona Marriott Golf Invitational is a prime example of Marriott’s long-held “spirit to serve” philosophy. In its 14-year history, the tournament has raised nearly $330,000 for various local charities. In 2010 alone, the tournament raised $5,000 for the Autism Society of Greater Tucson. Todd Howard, Chairman of the Golf Invitational Event and Director of Golf at Starr Pass, recently joined fellow community members who participated in the 14th annual tournament to deliver the $5,000 check to the Autism Society. Last year’s event also raised $43,000 for the two other Tucson charities, including the Children’s Miracle Network, which Marriott has sponsored for 28 years. Marriott remains the Children’s Miracle Network’s longest-sustaining sponsor. In addition to offering fun in the sun on Starr Pass’ 27-hole golf course, the goal of this year’s Golf Invitational is to increase the tournament turnout and raise even more much-needed funds for all four deserving charities. Tables for the gala begin at $1,000, while a golf foursome will cost players $2,000, which includes a table of 10 for the evening’s gala on November 18. Business sponsorships range from $3,000 to $10,000. These sponsorship packages include player gifts, continental breakfast, lunch buffet, company signage at the event, a table of 10 for the evening gala and more, depending on the level of sponsorship. In honor of the event, Starr Pass is offering a special room rate of $109 per night for all golf participants and gala attendees for Friday and Saturday nights, November 18 and 19.
