Local distinguishes herself on LPGA Tour
Bermuda Dunes, CA – Jennifer Johnson, member of Desert Christian Academy’s class of 2009, has scored her best finish yet as a professional golfer on the LPGA tour. In just her eighth tournament on tour, Johnson’s final round 73 at the Canadian Open was good for 8 under par for the tournament and a tie for 12th place. At Hillsdale Golf Club in Quebec, Jennifer’s 12th place finish earned her more than $36,000, raising her 2011 earnings to $84,809 . She currently sits at 64th on the money list for the year. “I am very pleased to have played well, and finished strong,” says Johnson, who attended Desert Christian Academy and Arizona State before joining the LPGA Tour. “Finishing as high as I did will help my overall standings, and will open up more opportunities to play in other tournaments,” she adds. As a result of her strong performance Jennifer climbed 49 positions and is now ranked number 203 in the world by Rolex LPGA rankings, which ranks the top 750 women professional golfers around the world. Jennifer, who is sponsored by Navistar, is also featured in a short video honoring America’s wounded warriors. Desert Christian Academy is proud of Jennifer, who received a full one-year scholarship to play golf at Arizona State University, where she was named female PAC 10 player of the year before turning pro last summer.
