Registration open for AZ Mid-Amateur

The 2010 Arizona Mid-Amateur Championship is set for Superstition Mountain's Prospector course Aug. 27 through 29. The event is open to AGA members 25 and older with handicap indexes 6.0 or less. Handicaps must meet the required maximum by the Aug. 1 revision.

Arizona Represented at 44th Pacific Coast Amateur

Scottsdale’s Philip Francis, Anthem’s Scott Pinckney, Nogales’ Alberto Sanchez, Phoenix’s Charlie Marusiak and Chandler’s Garrett Iverson will compete in the 44th Pacific Coast Amateur Championship, one of the nation’s premiere amateur golf events, July 27 through 30 at Eugene Country Club in Oregon.

Losole III captures 86th AZ Amateur

In a tense final match, Nicholas Losole III prevailed over Jake Golembiewski to win the 86th Arizona Amateur Championship at Pinnacle Peak Country Club. Golembiewski led almost the entire match, but it was Losole who prevailed at the end on the 19th hole. Play early on in the match was less than dramatic. Struggling with the speed of the greens early in the morning, both players got off to slow starts.

Golembiewski and Quinn advance to quarterfinals

Two of the three remaining medalists—Chandler’s Jake Golembiewski and Anthem’s Gary Quinn—advanced to the quarterfinals in the 86th Arizona Amateur Championship at Pinnacle Peak Country Club. Thursday’s match up included four matches that went into extra holes in the round of 32, and one in the round of 16.

Three of the four stroke-play medalists advance Wednesday in the 86th Arizona Amateur Championship at Pinnacle Peak Country Club in Scottsdale. Surprise’s Kyle Kallan, Chandler’s Jake Golembiewski and Anthem’s Gary Quinn defeated their opponents to win in the first round of match play.

4 players shoot a 139 and advance to top seeds in AZ Amateur

 

The crowd gathered at Pinnacle Peak Country Club to learn their fate in the 2010 Arizona Amateur Championship late Tuesday, as the final golfers turned in their round-two score cards. Four players finished as co-medalists, with a two-day total of 139—round one frontrunner Kyle Kallan of Surprise, Jake Golembiewski of Chandler, Gary Quinn of Anthem and Marc Watkins of Scottsdale. To add to the excitement, 10 players, each with a two-day total of 151, played-off for the final three spots to advance to match play.

Kyle Kallan, of Surprise, shot a five-under 67 to take the lead after the first round of stroke play at the 86th Arizona Amateur Championship. This year's event is being held at Pinnacle Peak Country Club, a par 72, 6,902-yard course in Scottsdale.

McDaniel set to defend AZ Amateur Championship title

Defending champion David McDaniel will tee it up against 143 of the state’s top amateur golfers to defend his title at the 86th Arizona Amateur Championship July 19 through 24 at Pinnacle Peak Country Club. The event consists of 36 holes of stroke play, with a cut to the top 64 players for the match play portion. Match play will begin Wednesday, July 21.
