Stroke Play Qualifiers Canceled

***AZ Stroke Play Qualifier Cancellation Notice***

Pre-tournament qualifiers will be canceled due to low participation. Players who are currently entered into the qualifiers will have provisional status for the championship. Upon full payment of tournament fees, provisional players will be entered into the championship.

Once the field size is at 136 players, players, whether exempt or non-exempt, wishing to compete will have to qualify Wednesday, April 14. The remaining 8 spots will be filled through this qualifier. Click Here for Full Details.

David McDaniel Captures AZ Publinks Championship

David McDaniel(left) went wire-to-wire to post a one-shot victory over Jordan Burgess, who started the day, eight shots off the pace. McDaniel shot a four-over 74 and finished the three days a one-under 209. Burgess shot a three-under 67 and carded a an -ever par 210. He was one of only two players to break par for the round.

Dean Hall, who started the day three shots back, finished alone in third at one-over 211, while former champions Ken Kellaney, Steve Dallas and Robin McCool, all tied for fourth at two-over 212.

Kyle Kallan and Garrett Moss finished tied for seven and rounding out the top 10, defending champion Michael Wog II and Brent Baylon posted five-over 215s.


Vote Billy Mayfair into the Arizona Sports Hall of Fame!

The 40th Annual Arizona Sports Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony will be held on April 8, 2010. The four inductees will be Bob Baffert, Sean Elliot, Billie Harris and Lute Olson. The fifth inductee is up for you to decide, Click Here to cast your vote and help Billy Mayfair become the final inductee to the Arizona Sports Hall of Fame in 2010. Voting closes Friday, March 12th.

51st Annual Father/Son Tournament

Entry forms are now posted online for the 51st Annual Father/Son Tournament on June 5th and 6th at Antelope Hills. *Entries open March 17, 2010.

Member Cards and Fulfillment

Your 2010 AGA Member Card and fulfillment piece will be distributed beginning February 16. If you have a current address registered with us, you will receive your member card directly in the mail. If not, it will be sent to your Handicap Chairman.

For those of you who chose Golfweek Magazine as your fulfillment or paid for a subscription, you should begin receiving the magazine within the next few weeks.


Magazine Editorial Error

An error has been brought to our attention in the February edition of Arizona, The State of Golf in the "Private Enterprise" article. The Country Club at DC Ranch in Scottsdale is not offering a daily green fee.

USGA To Host Handicap Seminar in Phoenix

The USGA will host a Handicap Seminar at Moon Valley Country Club on Wednesday, March 10 from 8:30am to 12:30pm. As part of the USGA license agreement, each club is required to have at least one individual certified in the operation of the handicap system. The certification process requires that the individual demonstates knowledge by attending a seminar and passing a test. Cost of the seminar is $40.

Announcing the 2010 AGA Member Days Schedule

The 2010 AGA Member Days schedule has been finalized and is now available for registration.

Through these events, AGA members are afforded an opportunity to play at private clubs in a relaxed, fun atmosphere. The 2010 schedule begins with Moon Valley CC on April 12th and Flagstaff Ranch on May 6th. Other courses include Blackstone CC in Peoria, The Rim in Payson, the Ritz-Carlton in Tucson, Troon CC in Scottsdale and Talking Rock in Prescott. All events will include proximity prizes and a raffle. Shotgun starts will be followed by a buffet lunch at most events.

Interested players are urged to sign up soon as many of these events fill up quickly. Twosomes may sign-up by mail or in the tournament section of the AGA website. Single players should contact Courtney Smyser at (602) 944-3035 or (800) 458-8484 to sign-up.
